How Classes Work
Notice: My last session of weekly classes in San Francisco will be Jan-May 2015, I am then offering several summer workshops. After that I will be moving to Detroit! I may take private students once I get there, so email to inquire.
I offer classes in drawing with either graphite or charcoal and painting in oil. Each class offered is described in detail on its own page on this website. All levels of experience encouraged.
Demonstration and Technical Critique are the foundation of my teaching method. The form of my classes can be flexible as I tailor the projects creatively to best fit the needs of a particular group of students. I offer personalized homework assignments to those who seek them. I encourage my students to be advocates for their own education: to take notes and to ask questions. In my experience the student who becomes a strong painter has taken the information given by the instructor and used it to set attainable personal goals for him/herself each day of class: "Today I wil draw with all straight lines", "Today I will keep mixing paint until I match the color exactly", etc.
