Ann Arbor Rec-Room, oil on Arches oil Paper, 12"x16" Scenes from the Studio, oil on Arches oil paper, 9"x12" At about year 5 of teaching all prima portrait painting two to five days a week, I began to feel fatigued. I needed to create a new way to study from life, a way that would revive me. This is what I came up with: abstracted figures and interiors painted from life. A game where I attempted to boil the truth down to it's essentials, experimentation, the moment when illustrating becomes art making. I thought it would be fun to offer a pairing of these types of paintings, these two feel good together. You may purchase them separately if you prefer.
