I work in oil on canvas and wood, exploring the nexus of skill and intuition. This has allowed playfulness to express in my palette, mark making, and the abstracted quality of my work. My paintings depict resonant experiences of place, object, self, and personal relationship in my daily life. I find my subjects by noticing that I am in it. When I do, I pause to explore and capture the moment with the immediacy of my phone's camera. These captures are added to an archive of resonant moments that I draw from over time. My body of work is a memoir, written in tandem with life and my understanding of it. I enjoy the tension of offering up this intimate record to the viewer, while knowing that this medium invites such subjectivity it may act more as a mirror. Either way, I hope that the work I create serves as a space of connectivity in our collective human experience.
